I don't normally blog here about sports but, in case you did not know, I am in love with the Green Bay Packers. Yes, the Packers. Not Brett Favre or any one player. It is the Packers to whom I owe all my loyalty. They are the best team in professional sports because they are a team owned by the town. 

They do not have an egotistical owner who would sell the town out in a minute for a few more dollars. You can see on my right margin I am a Green Bay Packer Stockholder as well. 

So, yes, Brett Favre is great and we owe him a lot. However, the Green Bay Packers were here long before Brett Favre and will be here long after Brett Favre.

Looks like Brett Favre will be returning to Green Bay tonight and will resume practice with the team. Packers will either need to trade or put a uniform on him.  Catch up on all the Favre action at Take Favre Back!

The Favre Watch Begins

As you all know, tomorrow is the day. Will Favre show or won't he? Who knows but I still hold true to my belief that the Packers have to put the best team they can out on the field. This team clearly would have Brett Favre at QB if it were not for management egos.

Packers: Take Favre Back NOW!!!

I understand all the hype about why the Packers do not want to take the greatest quarterback of all time who can still out play 99% of the quarterbacks in the league back.. NOT!!   Look, this is all about egos and pride. The Packers have a big ego and they want to show they are Green Bay's team and not Brett Favre's team.

As a fan, I say, WHO CARES!! Their responsibility to the fans is to put the best football team on the field they can.. period. Nothing else. And Brett Favre at QB would be the best thing they could do for the team. If you doubt it, ask the receivers, I am sure they will tell you.

Brett DESERVES the right to come back and if he wants to change his mind 15 times, so be it, he should be able to do that. He put up with the stupidity of the Packers when they hired Ray Rhodes didn't he?

Liveblogging the Superbowl

I am trying something new so I cannot vouch for how good it works but, here goes a live blogging of the Superbowl.

Perfection!!!

I have to comment about the fantastic New England Patriots. Tonight, they finished the football regular season 16-0 and that is an incredible accomplishment. I am in awe of that success and it truly is perfection. Congratulations to the New England Patriots! The first regular undefeated season in 35 years.

The Green Bay Packers are On Fire!

While I dedicate this blog to the men and women of the armed services, I would be remiss if I did not comment on my beloved Green Bay Packers.

As you can see from the picture to the left, I am a Green Bay Packer shareholder which puts me in a very special group of people and fans in the NFL. No other team is allowed to do this and the Packers are not selling anymore shares. Yes, I am an owner of an NFL team. A very special group. What does this mean to me? It means I am not just a fan but an owner; someone who truly cares about the well being of the team and what it means to the surrounding communities. I do not follow a bandwagon and I do not follow specific players with a new team they may join. I follow the Green Bay Packers.

I remember when Mike Holmgren was threatening to leave the Packers. You would think with his success everyone would do whatever he wanted to keep him. Then I read a letter in the Green Bay Press Gazette from a long time fan. It said, in part:

"Mike, the Green Bay Packers were here long before you got here and will be here long after you leave"

That was special. It is the Packers who count (not an uppity coach) and it is the tradition that counts (not some rich pompous owner). Who else has the history of the Green Bay Packers? Maybe Chicago but that is about it. Who else can look at pictures of the great ones like  Ray Nitschke and know that he ruled the field for so long? Just look at him? Would you want him standing over you?

So, regardless of what happens in Dallas, we have the privilege of knowing WE are the Green Bay Packers and the Packers are Green Bay. They will never move and cannot be sold. Trust me, if bad times (i.e. Packers in the '50s) fell on the Patriots or the Cowboys for long, the owners,and most of the fans, would dump them as fast as they can.

Yes, this is truly a great American Franchise. 

Live Coverage: Brett Favre News Conference About Nothing

Waiting and waiting and waiting for Brett Favre's decision... his press conference this morning said absolutely nothing. No decision made...

Update: Brett clearly is stating that he is not happy with the way the team is coming together. In order to get better, he said that the team needs to make a statement by signing another "Reggie White".  He said that when the Packers signed Reggie, you knew right away that the team would be better. However, he does not see that right now.

I cannot agree more. the Packers are showing a big "Thud" in Free Agency. As a stockholder in the Packers, I am embarrassed.

Update: Does anyone know why they said they would not answer any questions about Mark Chmura? Is something happening with Chmura?
