Converted Christian Faces Death Penalty in Afghanistan

We go to Afghanistan and tout what a great "Democracy" we have established. Now, Fox news reports that a person who converted to Christianity is facing the death penalty in a Kabul court. So, this is what we fought for? Given this, why didn't we just bomb the hell out of the Country to rid the Taliban then just leave. The hell with these people. My point all along has been that we have no business trying to build nations.

The conservative right wing nuts mixed up a "War on Terrorism" with occupying Countries. What a mess.

Boston Replaces Christmas Tree with A Festivus Pole

Boston has really gone bonkers. They no longer call the Christmas tree a  Christmas tree. It is a "Holiday Tree".

WTF? Why don't they go all the way and just put up a huge aluminum pole and call it "Festivus".

• It is a festivus miracle!
• A "Festivus" for the "Rest of us"
• After dinner, they will have the "airing of grievances"

This is just another ignorant assault on Catholicism. The bottom line is simple: There are doctrines which the Catholic church espouses and as a Catholic you submit to the authority of the Church. Therefore, I do not want to argue about the morality of the point made in this article but, if you disagree with the Catholic church to the point that you will ignore the edicts then why be a Catholic? Just change religions. Keep looking until you can find a religion that allows you to do whatever you want to do.

Catholic Online: The Mayor of Boston is Not a Catholic

Link: Catholic Online. The Mayor of Boston is not a Catholic and congratulations to the Boston Archbishop Sean O'Malley for not attending a Catholic Charity event honoring the mayor. The mayor appears to be "pro-choice" and "pro gay marriage" which are clearly against the Church teachings.

What is disturbing about this article is that at the end it states the Mayor is a "Catholic". NO HE IS NOT!!! He can be whatever he wants to be but he cannot be a Catholic and hold those views. That is a fact.

Security Scare at Pope's Funeral

Apparently there was at least one real scare at the Pope's funeral. Two Italian F-16s had to force a private plane to land thinking it had a bomb on board.

What Happens to Roman Catholics Now?

I read a great source of information which I thought to be interesting about what happens now in the Catholic Church (of which I am a member). The information is pulled from a site called Traditio. WARNING: It is a conservative Catholic site which did not fully support some of what this Pope did. Basically, they believe that the Church should go back to pre-Vatican II. However, it is the best source of information on this I have been able to find. Here goes:

• Novendiales begins. This is a 9 day period of mourning. It was afforded to every Roman Citizen in antiquity and the Pope reverts to being a "normal Roman citizen".
• The Camerarius (Eduardo Cardinal Martinez Somalo of Spain) begins all preparations for what is to come. He shall:
  • Hit the forehead of the Pope three times with a silver hammer calling his name. When there was no response, he declared the death.
  • He smashes the fisherman's ring of the Pope with a hammer signifying that there is no Papal authority on the Earth at this time. We are Sede Vacante - The See being vacant.
  • Destroys the leaden Papal Seals to ensure no Papal documents can be forged.
  • Sets the date and hour when the Pope's body will be brought to St. Peter's Basilica to be "exposed for the homage of the faithful."
  • Makes all necessary funeral arrangements to include when the body will be buried. The body gets buried between the fourth and sixth day after death.
  • Prepares rooms for the Cardinals and the voting place for the vote for the next Pope.
  • Reads any documents left behind by the Pope for the College of Cardinals.
• The Pope is dressed in his formal Papal vestments for the burial. Two veils of white silk are placed over his hands and face.

I think tradition is good. It is what binds us to our past and gives us guidance to the future. I am glad this still continues.

President Bush Violently Opposes the Pope

I listened to Bush's radio address today and as I have always said, watch the actions NOT the words. He took an opportunity to pander to Catholics everywhere by saying he and Laura are "praying" for the Pope and that the Pope is an "inspiration" for him. Well not that much of an inspiration.

• The Pope clearly was against the war in Iraq, Bush ignored it.
• The Pope was clearly against the death penalty, Bush ignored that.

So, once again, Bush has NO credibility. Oh, and BTW, the press conference was the beginning of new "govspeak". Because he lost all credibility on Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), he has changed the term to "Weapons of Mass Murder".

UPDATE: You can go here to learn more about this great man. A man who proclaims life and does not waver on life regardless of the circumstances. He proclaims life when he does not believe in war and he proclaims life when he does not believe in abortion. Consistent and unwavering - that is his legacy.

Falwell is Going to Die

Good riddance!  CNN reports Falwell is on his death bed. If we could only see him as God sends him off to eternal hell for being so belligerent, intolerant, racist and fascist. I would love to see the look on his face when he realizes the true God believes in tolerance, loving your enemies, and  helping the poor (not living like a king). Bye Bye Jerry....
