Cheney Says Bush Administration Not To Be Blamed For Economic Woes

Ok, if the big "Dick" (Cheney) is right and the Bush administration is not to be blamed it does beg another question: Just what were they doing for the last 8 years? According to the big Dick, you cannot blame them for the economy, you cannot blame them for the fiasco in Iraq, not their fault for the fiasco we call Katrina. Ok, please someone tell me for the love of God.. what were they doing for the last 8 years?

Oh, I know... that is right... we haven't been bombed since 9/11. Pretty bad when the only accomplishment you can cite is the "lack of something happening" knowing that no one can prove you right or wrong. 

I got it. The Carter Presidency was a wild success. After all, the Pentagon never was flown into during his administration!

CPAC Turns on Bush

The conservative movement can be a rabid bunch. At CPAC this week they essentially disowned George Bush. They threw him on the scrap heap of history and blamed him for all the Country's ills (Which he rightfully deserves). Gingrich is now calling things the "Bush-Obama" plans. I guess figuring that since everyone hates Bush so much if he can make BUSHOBAMA into one word maybe people will hate President Obama. 

So the question I must ask is for the last 8 years these same people groveled at the feet of George Bush as if he was some sort of Messiah. What happened? Did George Bush dupe them all? Or, are they just made at Bush since they lost? What gives here? How could they go from loving him 6 months ago to hating the heck out of him now?

The Bush Administration Ends As You Would Expect.. in a Flurry of Incompetence

The Bush administration, as we have said earlier, has made its mark by showing a level of incompetence never seen in this Country. The Iraq war, the "war on terror" (Just declaring war on a war tactic was an interesting idea), Katrina, Energy policy and now the "Government Bail Out". What is actually going on here is the raiding of the United States Treasury by the Conservatives knowing that they are going to be out of power for a while. 

Unfortunately, Congress has not shined during this time either. Now is the time for Congress to step up. In January, they will hold hearings on "where did the money go" with the banks. Congress needs to press them to ensure accountability. My guess is that this is more "feeding at the trough". The idea that the banks "do not track this money" is ludicrous. The banks could, if they wanted, track every nickel. They know what their business plans were prior to the great hand out of money and therefore Congress should find out how those business plans have changed since the great welfare checks started flowing. If the banks say again that they don't "track that" then they should be shut down on the spot for incompetent leadership. 

Finally, if there was anything to get Bush's head out of the sand on the economy it is the report on retail sales (This report from Mastercard). Sales could be down 4% to 6% according to a guest on CNBC this morning. And, the scary part is the sales that did occur, happened with very depressed pricing. 

If there was further need of evidence that this is a global problem, we learn today that Japan is in a deflationary mode once again and their industrial production is in the tank. 

Remember during the first quarter of this year how Bush was saying the economy is still doing well and that we are "not in a recession"? Just like his incompetent leadership of the Iraq war, where he thought for years the insurgents were about "to be defeated" and he could not see beyond his nose, so goes his economic thought as well. As the Country was disintegrating right before his very eyes, he still thought things were going well.

Katrina, Iraq, GWOT, economy, the hand out of Government largesse as part of the "bail outs" all point to the most incompetent administration in history. 

Bush and Rove Bring Down the GOP and The Reagan Conservative Movement in 8 Short Years

It only took George W. Bush and Karl Rove (along with honorable mentions of Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, Dick Cheney, Douglas Feith) 8 short years to undo the conservative movement made so strong under Ronald Reagan. In fact, this group of keystone cops has been so bad it makes me ill when I hear them call out their allegiance to Ronald Reagan and his ideals because I know how hollow those statements are. No, this group has taken the conservative movement, gutted it and buried it for many years to come. McCain can blame Bush for what is about to happen.

 

This is the thesis put forth in an article on Politico.com today. The article is titled, "Top GOP-ers: It's Bush and Rove's Fault" and it makes a convincing argument that Bush and Rove are anything but conservatives in the spirit of Ronald Reagan. They state:

From steel tariffs to prescription drug benefits, to the massive expansion of the police powers of the national government, to bloated transportation and energy bills, to federal mandates to the states on education, to nation-building, Reaganism was not only thrown under a bus by this administration, it also repeatedly ran back and forth over it.

The work of millions of conservatives going back to the 1940s has been sullied and misshapen into something unrecognizable,

This statement is amazing in that it puts the blame right squarely at the feet of the current President of the United States. Imagine, we are in a race where the person running from the incumbent party does not even want to be seen with the President and the endorsement of the Vice President is dealt with like a person dealing with leprosy. This is because even McCain is smart enough to know what Bush and his cronies have done. They have ruined the true conservative movement. They gave in to the Neo-cons when 9/11 occurred and they never looked back. 

When discussing the difference between these morons and Reagan, the authors state:

Bush has also put conservatives in an impossible position by trying to explain deregulation versus the out-and-out corruption of the financial industry and bailout of their friends on Wall Street and nationalize the mortgage and banking industries. For the record, Reaganites oppose the bailout and federal involvement in anything other than throwing crooked brokers and bankers into jail block C.

Why does this interest me so much? Because when I called out the President for violating true conservative values (e.g, Tax cuts while increasing Government spending, the "facade" of reducing Government when actually increasing it, and the supreme error: Pax Americana at the end of a gun barrel), I was told by the then conservatives that I was a traitor! How dare I speak out against a "war time" President. Some even said it was "sedition" to speak out against your government while at war. 

All of these people somehow (many by the way were military) forgot we lived in America and forgot what they were defending. 

The sad part is we will now take a minimum of 8 - 12 years to repair the damage done by these crooks and liars. 

The conservative movement should cast out these people and ensure they are never to be seen again. If I had it my way we would send them all to Elba and this time we ensure they are not allowed to return.

Cheney Endorses McCain? Any Other Reason Needed to Vote for Obama?

Ok, are there any other reasons needed to vote for Barack Obama? Cheney endorsing McCain is the equivalent of the devil himself telling you how to vote. I cannot believe the "handlers" did not tell him to keep his mouth shut. But, I am glad they didn't. So, Barack Obama has Warren Buffet and Colin Powell as big endorsements. McCain now has Bush and Cheney. Enough said.

Salon hits on this as well. They call it the "Coveted Dick Cheney Endorsement". Saturday night live could not have made up a better skit than this (Well, maybe the one where they mocked what it would look like to get a George W. Bush endorsement on Prime Time). Barack Obama spoke about this endorsement:

"President Bush is sitting out the last few days before the election. But earlier today, Dick Cheney came out of his undisclosed location and hit the campaign trail," Obama said. "I'd like to congratulate Senator McCain on this endorsement because he really earned it. That endorsement didn't come easy. Senator McCain had to vote 90 percent of the time with George Bush and Dick Cheney to get it."

Cheney's name drew boos from the crowd, which cued Obama for what's become a standard line in the last week. "You don't have to boo," he said. "Just vote!"

What was the McCain campaign response? They are saying Barack Obama and Dick Cheney are similiar in positions. They state (Again, from Salon):

"Barack Obama and Dick Cheney aren't just cousins, they have shared support for the Bush energy policy and the out-of-control spending that John McCain has fought to oppose," spokesman Tucker Bounds e-mailed reporters. (The e-mail included a handy fact sheet, citing an Obama speech in Iowa in January as the source to note Obama and Cheney's distant family ties.) Apparently the idea was to persuade voters that Cheney and Obama have more in common than Cheney and McCain.

Ok, so no we have been told by the McCain campaign that Obama is a Marxist and a Socialist and is tied to terrorists. We are also now told that there is not much difference in economic and energy policy between Barack Obama and Dick Cheney. 

Is Dick Cheney a Marxist?? We have had a Marxist in the administration for this long and did not know it? Wow, Dick Cheney must also be a terrorist right!!

Let's get to Tuesday quick so we can put this nightmare behind us. Please!!

Another Reason To Rid Washington of Republicans - Look What Wolfowitz is Doing Now...

I was absolutely flabergasted when I learned that Paul Wolfowitz, the architect of the unmitigated disaster in Iraq, was still in the US Government employment. Rather than working for the State Department, he should be in shackles and chains and in prison. 

So, what do we have this "domestic terrorist" doing these days? He is the head of the International Security Advisory Board to Coni Rice. And, guess what he is recommending now? He is recommending we start a Cold War with China! (You just cannot make this stuff up). Read on... Apparently, Condi commissioned this group to do the following: Come up with ideas which would...

"move the US-China security relationship toward greater transparency and mutual confidence, enhance cooperation, and reduce the likelihood of misunderstanding or miscalculation that can contribute to competition or conflict.”

Instead, Wolfowitz only came up with ideas which would lead to a tense cold war with China. The report came back with totally military options and military ideas on how to deal with China. His group comes up with many military options but is woefully lacking on the diplomatic ones. From the reference above:

One of the most striking features of the report is its almost complete focus on military options and the absence of other policy components. It contains no analysis of or recommendations for how to engage China on nuclear arms control or confidence building measures to limit or influence the nuclear modernization, operations and policy. It is almost as if there must be another unknown chapter to the report.

Although the authors believe there are a number of measures the US should take to reduce the prospect for misunderstanding and the chance of miscalculation, those recommendations are few and limited to continuing existing Track II discussions, military-to-military contacts, and asking the Chinese to be more transparent.

I have to ask the questions, "What is this nutbag still doing in the US Government? Why would anyone listen to him let alone make him the "chair" of any committee recommending anything? How wrong do you have to be in the Republican party before you are considered just an incompetent moron? You should write your Senators, Congressman, and Condi Rice to ask for his IMMEDIATE FIRING and removal from office. 

This is a national disgrace.

I am not ignorant of a need for "carrot and stick" but, once again, this buffoon is only advocating the stick. It is all he knows. Further, why would anyone listen to him? He is a walking disaster. 

Another reason to Vote Obama and get this group of clowns out of Washington for good!
