Now This is Cool...The Spy Satellite Destroyed
Ok, this is a good use of a missile. According to the Pentagon, this is video of the satellite being destroyed last week. Who knows, but it does look cool.
Thomas Ricks: Fisco
A fantastic and scary account of the incompetence in the leadership leading up to, and execution of, the Iraq war (*****)
Zbigniew Brzezinski: The Choice: Global Domination or Global Leadership
Should we dominate the world or lead the world? Great question
The New American Militarism
Listened to the author on NPR. This will be my next read.
Dore Gold: Hatred's Kingdom : How Saudi Arabia Supports the New Global Terrorism
Very good history book showing the origins of the Al Qaeda and radical Islamist movement. While we like to think that most of this is new, this book really points out the roots in old history which drive current events. (*****)
MICHAEL SCHEUER: Imperial Hubris: Why the West is Losing the War on Terror
Fantastic read. Supports the conclusion that we lost sight of the true war by invading Iraq. Rather than getting Bin Laden (a misunderstood enemy) we went into Iraq and have now caused more issues than we have solved. (****)
Jon Lee Anderson: The Fall Of Baghdad
Not your average reporter. Jon Anderson did not embed but rather saw the invasion first hand. A great read! (*****)

My blog is worth $10,726.26.
How much is your blog worth?

I was unboxing some things and came across my old Army stuff. I added as my profile picture my Company Command official photo from the 3ID!

I find it interesting that we are spending billions "saving" the Iraqi people yet our own Country is burning up.
Sorry about the weak posting... I traveled and left my laptop cord at home. I am back up!!
Well, Bill O'Reilly is officially F***ing nuts. A caller called in and mentioned Keith Obermann, of which there is an on going feud, and Bill O'Reilly threatened this person with a "little visit from Fox Security". He said (Seriously), "We have your phone number and you will get a visit from Fox Security. You can hear the exchange here.
He has threatened judges on the air and now he makes public threats to people on the air of violence. Watching his show is like voyeurism into a nutcase.

If trampling on people to get a price reduced Plasma TV is what the "spirit of the season" is all about, I want no part of it. I continue to repudiate buying this crap and this has helped me identify that less is actually more.
The Daily Snark reports that Bill Maher has an idea for New Orleans. Basically, he says that just because we agreed to rebuild New Orleans does not mean we have to put it back where it was. He said, "For $200M, we could put it on the moon!"
Finally, he recommends we actually put it in Kansas. Not a bad idea. Read the entire posting here at the Daily Snark.
There is nothing nicer than a cool autumn day and here I sit in my family room, looking at the "glass wall" at the mighty oak trees which have turned color and are deep in the middle of dropping their leaves. A warm fire is going in the fire place and now is a good time for me to review the happenings of the week (As I also watch the Sunday News shows):
Warren Buffet of real estate) is dumping all of his holdings. As he said, "there are too many amateurs involved and like in Polo, amateurs can get you killed."
with me and puts to shame the argument of "The Big Muddy" and others who are saying that the recruiting numbers "were not that bad". Because of all the changes made in who is eligible (i.e., opening it up to a lot wider population. Mike Reilly, VP of Operations at The Center for Security Policy states, “You can’t compare these numbers to the ones from last year, because you have
to understand what they did to get these new numbers,” he said. “They’ve really
gone down more than just what the difference is.”First, to all my readers, I apologize for being delinquent in my postings. I took a much needed vacation to one of the greatest places in this Country. It is undiscovered and to help it stay that way, I am not going to divulge the location. However, the pictures to the left of this posting are two I took while on the trip. It is a a very uninhabited land.
The coastline is breath taking. The water is cold but not too cold and the nights are cool while the days are hot. Mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, swimming are all big past times. General sightseeing is magnificent. The first shot is a scene of a 150' drop to the water below and it is a complete sand dune. You can slide down the dune but chances of getting back up are very slim unless you are in incredible shape.
The second picture is from the water looking at the shore rock formations. They were created by glacial activity and are awesome. Well, that is what i did on this vacation. It was relaxing. I guess if Bush can get 5 weeks while waging war on the world, I can get one while blogging!
