Now This is Cool...The Spy Satellite Destroyed

Ok, this is a good use of a missile. According to the Pentagon, this is video of the satellite being destroyed last week. Who knows, but it does look cool.

As The Iraq War Drains our Economy, Our Country Enters a Huge Drought

Link: Drought Is Sapping the Southeast, and Its Farmers - New York Times

I find it interesting that we are spending billions "saving" the Iraqi people yet our own Country is burning up.

Bill O'Reilly is Officially F***ing Nuts... Threatens Caller

Well, Bill O'Reilly is officially F***ing nuts. A caller called in and mentioned Keith Obermann, of which there is an on going feud, and Bill O'Reilly threatened this person with a "little visit from Fox Security". He said (Seriously), "We have your phone number and you will get a visit from Fox Security. You can hear the exchange here.

He has threatened judges on the air and now he makes public threats to people on the air of violence. Watching his show is like voyeurism into a nutcase.

If trampling on people to get a price reduced Plasma TV is what the "spirit of the season" is all about, I want no part of it. I continue to repudiate buying this crap and this has helped me identify that less is actually more.

Bill Maher Has The Best Idea for New Orleans

The Daily Snark reports that Bill Maher has an idea for New Orleans. Basically, he says that just because we agreed to rebuild New Orleans does not mean we have to put it back where it was. He said, "For $200M, we could put it on the moon!"

Finally, he recommends we actually put it in Kansas. Not a bad idea. Read the entire posting here at the Daily Snark.

    Sunday Roundup

There is nothing nicer than a cool autumn day and here I sit in my family room, looking at the "glass wall" at the mighty oak trees which have turned color and are deep in the middle of dropping their leaves. A warm fire is going in the fire place and now is a good time for me to review the happenings of the week (As I also watch the Sunday News shows):

    1. The Bubble is bursting! CNN reports today that the world's "best" real estate investor (TheHurtrac_2 Warren Buffet of real estate) is dumping all of his holdings. As he said, "there are too many amateurs involved and like in Polo, amateurs can get you killed."
    2. Wilma is starting to move out back over warm water and heading towards Florida. Keep track of it at Intellicast.
    3. One of the best pictures I have seen in a long time was Tom Delay's Mug shot. One down and about 4 to go. My favorite "hit list" of mug shots I would like to see: Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and the Prez himself, George Bush. An interesting page provided by The Smoking Gun is a page of mug shots. It is fun!
    4. The Stars and Stripes by way of Counterrecruiter agrees1020051delay1_1 with me and puts to shame the argument of "The Big Muddy" and others who are saying that the recruiting numbers "were not that bad". Because of all the changes made in who is eligible (i.e., opening it up to a lot wider population. Mike Reilly, VP of Operations at The Center for Security Policy states, “You can’t compare these numbers to the ones from last year, because you have to understand what they did to get these new numbers,” he said. “They’ve really gone down more than just what the difference is.”
    5. Despite the MILBLOGGERS desire to say all is OK in Iraq and we should trust them because "they are there", the data shows otherwise. Coming from A Soldier's Thoughts, Zack points us to a Reuters article which clearly shows 45% of all Iraqis support the attacks on US and UK soldiers. Hmmmm, sounds like a large amount of people think differently than the silly milbloggers lead us to believe.
    6. Finally, today I am hoping the Packers take the crime infested Vikings down and that I go to 5-1-1 in my fantasy football league. GO PACK!

    My Apologies - Vacation

100_3739First, to all my readers, I apologize for being delinquent in my postings. I took a much needed vacation to one of the greatest places in this Country. It is undiscovered and to help it stay that way, I am not going to divulge the location. However, the pictures to the left of this posting are two I took while on the trip. It is a a very uninhabited land.

The coastline is breath taking. The water is cold but not too cold and the nights are cool while the days are hot. Mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, swimming are all big past times. General sightseeing is magnificent.  The first shot is a scene of a 150' drop to the water below and it is a complete sand dune. You can slide down the dune but chances of getting back up are very slim unless you are in incredible shape.

100b2353The second picture is from the water looking at the shore rock formations. They were created by glacial activity and are awesome.  Well, that is what i did on this vacation. It was relaxing. I guess if Bush can get 5 weeks while waging war on the world, I can get one while blogging!
