Slideshow on My Garden I am Developing this Summer

I thought I would post the progress of my plantings around my new home. Also, I am putting pictures up of the beautiful lake Michigan. The beaches at the lake are fantastic. Look at the soft sand. Still a bit cold but nice to sit and watch the sunset.

Hope and Pray for Jack and Jill Army

While Jack Army and I disagree on some stuff, I will say publicly that if I had to go to war, I would want Jack Army right there as he is the most trained and one of the toughest soldiers I know. He does not shy from the "tough stuff".

Let's hope and pray that he and his family are OK and he is back up blogging soon.

Happy Father's Day - Especially to Father's Who Are Serving

I wanted to wish all my readers a happy Father's day. I had a great day today with both my son and my father. It was beautiful weather and we were able to plant a garden which will be known as "Father's Garden" from here forward. The garden has a lot of perennials and a very nice bird bath hoping that the birds enjoy this garden as much as we do.

I also want to especially call out a happy father's day to those who are deployed, especially Zack, Dadmanly  and Mustang23 who are three soldiers deployed and writing their thoughts in the blogsphere. I am sure there are more who I did not mention and I wish all of you a happy father's day as well. Today I set down the issue of pro or anti war and just wish those serving a happy father's day. I pray and hope that you return safely to enjoy your family as much as I do.  Be safe and God speed.

    To Do List

    Today's To-Do List:

    1. Wash the Cars
    2. Finish the lawn
    3. Stack remaining firewood (yes, where I live, firewood will still be used for another few weeks!)
    4. Wash down the deck
    5. Fix up Grill

I better get going... there is only another 11 hours of daylight left!

    A Lot Going On

A lot has been going on recently. First, let me share some pictures of Maggie, my 2+ year old lab. She is really cute and well behaved. I must compliment my wife for that. She has really trained Maggie well. Here she is after I filled her bowl with food. She is waiting for me to say "release". It is at this point, and only at this point, that she will eat the food.100_1320_2

She also has the tendency to stick out her tongue a lot. She did this as a puppy and now does it here. It is a very cute trait but it makes me feel as if she knows I want here to do something and she does not really want to do it.

Dogs tend to have a "mind of their own.

We have also been putting a roof on our house; thank God it is done. It was a bigger job than I think everyone expected but the good news is that I should not have to do it again. Here is an "in progress" shot:

100b1560They scaffolded the entire house to get the job done because the roof is so steep. It was a really good crew and they were very good about cleaning up at the end of the day. The first roofer I know who did not leave a dumpster in your driveway. Rather they picked up and cleared out at the end of every day. It was amazing.

Finally, Kyle was in a band concert this week. That was fun. Here is a shot of his group:100_1389
They did a superb job and his saxophone playing gets better by the minute.

So, that is it. A lot going on. Busy as usual but fun!
