California to Cut Off Water to Farms Due to Drought

This is a topic I tried to get people excited about back in October of 2007. In this article, titled  "Drought Continues and Expands" I discussed the nations upcoming shortage of water. Previous to this, I even had said that potential "water wars" could start as states like Colorado shut off water to states like California. 

Read my first posting then read this article from the news on February 20th about California shutting off water to farmers. This is serious stuff. No need to argue about whether it is "man made" or not. Who cares? The planet is heating up and it cannot sustain our lifestyle.

Just when you thought oil prices were the biggest problem, don't forget that much of the Country is running out of water. In this article, it is clear the impact the drought is having on California economic growth (or lack of).

So, you decide.. in the words of Ronald Reagan, "Are you better off now than you were 8 years ago"?  Bush has left us with an economy in tatters, a Country at war with no end in site and just about every key natural resource running out with no plan to fix it.

He and the neo-cons remind me of the locust aliens in ID4. They just go from world to world consuming everything and they leave behind a wasteland. That is what the neo-cons have done for the last 8 years.

The Nation's Water Wars

I have blogged recently about the upcoming "water wars" between the states. The fact is fresh water will become the "gold" or "oil" of the next 100 years. As if on cue, this article discusses how much of the nation will have huge water shortages in the next few years. Call it Global Warming, call it man made.. who really cares? The fact is that water will become critically short.

When you look globally, it is even more of an issue. According to this article,  " by 2050, up to 2 billion people could be facing water shortages".

While we screw around fighting "yesterday's war" in Iraq, oil goes to $90 per barrel and water disappears.

Georgia - State of Emergency Declared due To Drought

Earlier I brought attention to the Drought situation in the United States. Now, today, comes word that Georgia has declared a state of emergency due to the incredible drought situation .

If you think that is only Georgia get ready for the "Water wars". See, in order to solve this, Georgia wants to shut off or slow down the flow of water to Alabama and Florida which originates from Georgia.

The same will happen eventually when those who live in L.A. where they are already arguing over who gets it and who does not.
