Another Conservative Who Will Do NOTHING for His Country but Talk

Operation yellow elephant is committed to calling out the Chickenhawks of the Country. You know, those conservative blabber mouths who make a living out of getting everyone to want to go to war but REFUSE to do so themselves. Well, today, I read a particularly disgusting example of this.

Geoff Smock calls himself the "Young Conservative" (he is 19). He supports the war and Bush unconditionally. What he does not support is GOING TO WAR HIMSELF. You see, he has "committed" to himself that he will get educated (i.e., a College Degree) first then he will decide. This sounds an awful lot like his own internal "college deferment" justification. Geoff Refuses to fight. The war is not that important.

It also sounds a lot like he is just too chicken to go. My guess is that he will continue his "commitment" to his education right up to the point the fighting stops. See, to him, this silly war is a "must" as long as someone else goes off and dies. However, it is not so critical as to stop his education.

My question to 'ole Geoff is: What is the rush on the College degree? You can get that anytime. In fact, the Army will help you after you get your Silver Star. But, you can only fight in Iraq now. Do you think Iraq will be there when you are done with your "education"? Probably not. So, go fight!

As Jack Nicholson put it in a few good men: " So, pick up your weapon and stand your post or, just shut up" (or something like that).

Which is it Geoff. Will you follow in the great footsteps of John Murtha, John McCain et al. Or will you be known as a pussy conservative like Sean Hannity, Dick Cheney, George Bush, Paul Wolfowitz, and Ann Coulter? All refused to serve their Country when the call came.

See, serving in the military is just that, a SERVICE. You make a SACRIFICE for your fellow citizen and some make the ultimate sacrifice. You, on the other hand, in just 19 short years have already taken the selfish and narcissistic path. The one which says, "if it fits into my schedule I will fight, otherwise, I want you to go do it for me.".

Like George C. Scott said in playing General Patton, when your grandkids ask you what you did during the "big war" (that you supported), you will have to say, "Well, I was shoveling shit in Louisiana".
