I am collecting some more postings about the NYT disclosing the Bush Administration's secret war against the United States and its Constitution. One thing I found funny was that Michelle Malkin, that Diva of Right Wing Nuttery, posted a picture of a protest sign which read: "NYT Reporting will get us killed". Who?
One thing we know is that it will not get Michelle Killed, or Ann Coulter killed, or Sean Hannity killed or The President's daughters killed or, quite frankly, 99% of the right wing nuttery because, as we know, they NEVER HAVE and NEVER WILL serve in any combat or remotely combat part of the Armed services. All have dodged and refused to serve and continue to REFUSE to serve.
Talking Points Memo brings up the fact that the right wing nuttery protested the NYT saying that if they were reporting during the time Ann Frank was hiding, NYT would have disclosed the hiding place. Of course, this totally ignores the fact that the NYT did report during that time and obviously did not report that hiding place if they knew it.
But, Josh at TPM rightly points out that this analogy does not fit at all and even the protest organization agreed with his point; however, it did make a great slogan. Now, I say that it is exactly the reverse. If we were in Nazi Germany and this was going on, would the right wing nuttery say that we should not "report against our Government"? In fact, the answer is most likely, yes.
What if we were living in the revolutionary times? What position would the right wing nuttery have? My guess is that they would support our "duly appointed Government (i.e, England)" and we should never support those "traitors" who were causing such mischief. It all looks good now but seriously, if we were alive then wouldn't Paul Revere look like a Michael Moore? Me thinks Ann Coulter and the ilk would be supporting the King.
