A Marine LTC Admits He "Loathes" The Government He is Sworn to Defend

I have talked a lot about how scary it is that our Military is so out of touch with America at large. The military is moving further and further to the right and is becoming an arm of the far right Christian theocracy which is developing in this Country. We even learned this week of penetration into the military of skin heads and neo  nazis.

Now we have a Marine LTC ( I could not confirm his rank from his own website but Blackfive identifies him here) who specifically posts on his blog the following:

"THE battleground in this war on terror against Americans is the US Capitol.  Waffling legislators, conducting vast attacks on one another in the name of good serves only two entities: the Republican and the Democratic Parties.  Not a greater secure US public.  We saw close knit mutual support and cooperation in the wake of 9-11 from our "leaders." Now it is business as usual to see who can get the majority in both houses of Congress and own the White House.....screw the other guy before he screws you.  I can say with great certainty that the US military members LOATHE [bold is mine]the vast majority of congressional members."

What does loathe mean? Let's go to Webster's when it says loathe means:

"To dislike greatly often with disgust or intolerance"

So, now let's look at Article 88 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice:

"“Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, [bold is mine]the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Transportation, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”

What is the definition of "contemptuous"? It is:

"1 a : the act of despising  : the state of mind of one who despises  : DISDAIN b : lack of respect or reverence for something
2 : the state of being despised
3 : willful disobedience to or open disrespect of a court, judge, or legislative body [highlight is mine]  <contempt of court>"

Oh, and the UCMJ adds:

"Giving broad circulation to a written publication containing contemptuous words of the kind made punishable by this article, or the utterance of contemptuous words of this kind in the presence of military subordinates, aggravates the offense. The truth or falsity of the statements is immaterial."

I would say a "blog" counts for "broad circulation to a written publication".

Having shown all of that, it once again shows that people such as Mudville, Blackfive and now this person are in contempt of the officials who are appointed above them. They have contempt for the civilian leadership of this Country and especially Congress. I am not against them having a political opinion but when they freely identify themselves as officers of the military then freely post, in wide distribution, their loathe and contempt for the civilian authority, I have a problem with that.

It certainly looks like our friend Howdy has violated enough of the UCMJ for at least a Military Lawyer to review.

Operation "Yellow Elephant" highlights something I have noticed all along in this war. Many young, healthy hetrosexual CONSERVATIVE males are very willing to "blog" about supporting the war and go to "pro war" rallies but a lot of them, for some srange reason, DO NOT enlist in the Army. Interesting hmmm... I wonder why?

Could it be that it is more fun to bloviate on how patriotic they are and cheer on George Bush than to actually DO something?  When it comes down to just doing their patriotic duty and going to the war they love so much, are they just cowards? Me thinks we have  a trend. A whole new generation of chickenhawks to follow Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz and the ilk.

Ann Coulter: The Plagiarism Queen - More Evidence

More reporting on the Ann Coulter plagiarism scandal. The evidence is mounting and new her publisher is actually investigating. She will have to retreat to her Florida home where she illegally votes to fight her violation of copyright law.

This is a fantastic post which says exactly what I have been thinking. Don't you find it strange that as we get closer to the elections, all of a sudden, all these "terrorist" plots are getting foiled. We went a few years with nothing now, we are seeing bombing and gassing attempts everywhere.

Or, could this just be the war party - GOP setting their strategy. Scaring the hell out of the American people is their way of dependency. Just like they accused the Dems in the '70s of using welfare as the reason why people become dependent on Government, the RePubs are using the "You need us or you will die" strategy. It is, in fact, the same strategy just a different dependency.

Can't wait until the colors start getting elevated again. What is Rove's strategy? Make people think they will literally be blown to pieces without us. It is sad.

Ann Coulter Appears to Be Guilty of Plagerism

Not surprising given her lack of intelligence, it appears she has been called out for plagiarism in her new book. What is also true is that it appears in her response, she does not actually address the challenge. She does not say, "I did not plagiarize" rather she says that the source (i.e., the post) is a crappy newspaper. OK, let's say we agree with her. Let's make that a given. What does that have to do with the charge.

Ann: Did you plagiarize or not?

I also think the position "It Affects You" takes is real: What is more scary, Ann Coulter has these views or that there actually is someone else out there who holds them too (besides her pimp, Sean Hannity).

Then she brags about how many books she sells. Well, when you give them away to anyone with an email address and only charge for shipping and handling, it is not too hard to claim a lot of books "sold".

Neo Nazis and Skinheads Permeate a Recruit Starved Military

An interesting article referred by Mother Jones and written in the Southern Poverty Law Center highlights the impact of the problems the military has with getting recruits. Are they making their targets by overlooking Skinheads and Nazis? This article seems to imply this and the data is compelling.

The fear we have always had of a non draft Army is that it does not represent the American public. More and more, the military, and the Army in particular, represents a far extreme portion of our Country. The leadership of the Army represents the far right, conservative religious right for the most part. Now it seems it is going even further and the penetration by the neo nazis and skinheads in the fighting ranks (in one case, an officer) is pervasive. Wow!

UPDATE (July 8, 2006, 11:53CST): Gateway Pundit ridicules the article without referencing at all the statements by the US Army CONFIRMING that there is an infusion of Skinheads and Neo Nazis. Further, The author says, "Show us one, just one" yet in the story, there are PICTURES of them that the ARMY and NAVY SEALS CONFIRM were Skinheads. Geez... talk about ignoring reality.

Finally, Gateway uses this as an opportunity to once again mislead the public on the fact that yes, recruiting numbers have been met so far. But, what the author forgets (that is a polite way of not saying they are purposefully misleading their readers) to mention is they are doing it by lowering standards dramatically.

It is getting harder and harder to keep up with correcting the misleading and downright lies of the right, but I will continue.

Looks like the military agrees more with the "MSM" press than the right wing nuts. Findings are that the Marine officers doing the "investigation" were derelict in their duties. More evidence that the MSM press is far more right than they are wrong.

Given recent experiences with the Army PAO, I will continue to support and encourage the press to investigate and REVEAL anything and everything they can. This Country has been taken over by some really devious people and the press is in the best position to stop it.

UPDATE: July 8, 2006 1434: Looks the evil "MSM" was right after all. Sounds like officers in the Marines will be charged with a cover up. Imagine that! Time Magazine breaks a story and it turned out to be right. Oh, how Bush just wishes we all just got our news from the Government Ministry of Truth.

Ann Coulter's Book is So Bad, They Give it Away

Here is a screenshot of an email I have received just about every day since this pornography from Coulter was published:

Imagine that! Hannity continues to talk about how this is a "best selling book. But, it appears that it is best "give away" book given these ads which are sent to me regularly from "Friends of GOPUSA".

All I can say is that you get what you pay for and this book is barely worth the cost of shipping it (which is about what they charge so, basically, the book is free).

Reminds me of the way Ford would keep the Taurus as the "best selling" car. When it looked like it would lose its title, Ford would have all the employees turn in their company cars and take new Taurus'. They would then have Hertz, a Ford owned company, do the same thing and guess what, Voila! You have the "best selling" car.

Looks like Coulter is doing the same with her book.

Bin Laden's Revenge

Instead of focusing on the true security concerns of this Country, Bush has played to the masses much like McMahon does on World Wide Wrestling. "Get the fight going and that will entertain the uneducated"!

In the meantime, the joke is on us. Bin Laden, in his camp somewhere, could not have expected such a great outcome (for him, lousy for us). Yes, 3,000 were killed on 9/11 - a horrific act. But, then Bush did what Bin Laden wanted. Bush threw the Country into war and that, my friends, is the true Bin Laden revenge.

So, now we have gas at these prices, we have a bankrupt government (deficit), we are more dependent on foreign oil than ever before, our Army is disintegrating before our very eyes, we are caught in a quagmire we cannot get out of, and while we were distracted by a Country that DID NOT have nukes, we are now faced with one which does have them... and is launching missiles.

Finally, Bin Laden hated Saddam as much as we did since Saddam was a secular leader. I am sure Bin Laden is thanking Bush for taking care of that problem as well.

So, in almost anyway you look at it. Our President has fallen prey to the mind of Bin Laden. Not saying Bin Laden is smart but, against our President, most look like geniuses!

Well, now the Army cannot pay their utility bills. Imagine trusting the life of your son and/or daughter to an organization that cannot plan well enough to pay its utility bills? And they are fighting a war?
