Very good advice on how to read business books. So many out there and so little time using these techniques may expand your reading.

I especially like the statement of "don't believe everything you read". These people are bright and can write persuasive articles about anything but don't let your common sense get trumped by their wit.

How To Read Business Books

A very good article I found at cyberlibris on how to read business books such as those by Drucker and Collins. Interesting that in 2004, 14 books per day were published claiming to be about business.

My biggest gripe is that in the balance between specificity and generalization, most of these books are very general. Usually they have between 7 and 10 steps to succeed in just about everything.  I think it takes a bit more to understand what you should be doing.

How to solve this? Read vociferously and catalog the general themes. Then, periodically, take one of those themes and conduct a "deep dive". That is my methodology.
